I started dancing Kizomba in 2009 after many many years of dancing Salsa and various Brazilian dances. What can I say, I just love dancing, especially with a partner, and Kizomba was a natural continuation of my dance journey.
As a German/Italian, I didn't exactly grow up in a dance culture, but I always liked music and dancing. Travelling through South America, I got my first taste of partner dancing and Afro-Latin rhythms. It sparked an interest, a passion that has stayed with me.
In order to really enjoy a dance, you have to like the music. It has to speak to you. Kizomba did just that for me! When the music is slow, Kizomba can be sensual and when the music is faster & more upbeat, it is vibrant and joyful. Above all, Kizomba is always smooth.
As a follower, I love to let go and just get swept away by that connection with my dance partner through the music. I cannot imagine my life with dancing!
